I don't like the part that you have to raise the input voltage, in many projectors the 5V PSU is also used to drive other lasers, with this solution you always need a separate PSU with the driver.

I wonder how many mA the driver can drive at 5,0V

I don't know what is wrong with it. When it was delivered to me it was putting out around 100mw and, even though I have hardly used it, the power has dropped to around 20mw or less now. It's like it gets bad from just sitting unused. This unit is a warranty replacement unit for my original that also died in a similar way. My warrany expired a long time ago so I figured it would cost to much to ship to China and have repaired. Any ideas about what could be going on with it?

Regardless of the driver, if you are running a 445nm diode, you need more than 5v input

    No this is not correct.

I'm running 445nm diodes from 5V a powersupply, the only problem is depending on the voltage drop over the transistor/fet and shunt resistor you simply will not be able to run the diode at full power.

As you can see in the attached drawing the foreward voltage rises with the current, so even with a 1Volt drop over the driver you still should be able to run the diode at 400mW.

I was referring to full power.

then we are back to my original question:

These drivers have R1 on them. 0.1 Ohm.
I had already had these drivers working on the UKLEM, with Peltier supplied by Lasever, With Thermistor supplied by lasever. Works like a charm.

So i donīt understand your comments. I just thought to share my info ... Thanks very much Dimitri

And i don't understand what the size of this resistor has to do with the thermistor size ?.... I understood this resistor to be part of the Peltier control feedback circuit ! (Maybe it is part of the LD feedback circuit)

If Dave from lasever says it needs to be changed, and the voltage needs to be upped to 5.5V why should we doubt it ?
....I don't doubt it for one minute but if not supplied with thermistor and peltier more info is needed.

It works, i proved it during UKLEM, i am probably missing something ? Sorry if i misunderstand you.
...No apologies needed, I just need MORE info!

    Hi David,
Is the Peltier and thermistor mentioned above by Hobbybob actually included in the price mentioned in your post "LSR-PS-I is for $45 by 10pcs, $60 for one."

Or does one have to purchase these separately (if so, what is the cost)?

    Cheers

Any more information about the lens? Want to know focal length, NA and transmittance. A couple of pics of the beam would be nice too.

    Indeed, the lens intrigue ...

    Hi,

can anybody give me the meaning of the potentiometers on the driver (UR1-UR4). I am lost :-)

    Thanks,
