Default My idea ! "Twin Scanner setup"

well... i did leave my laser at my moms house, and I still waiting for that red one i did orded !

So i did get bored and start to drawing ideas in "paint.exe"
And here is the result of a idea that maybe will be possible to do?

The idea is to combine RED and GREEN to make yellow !
But becouse i got a damn powerful green i need to use the "leftover" of green radiation

So the idea is to split the green into 2 beams !!
One is <40mW and the other <150mW
Then I use the 40mW toghether with red and get yellow, and i use the rest of the green I us in another scanner setup

You can se my skilled painted picture here:

Great idea! Did you know that dichroic mirrors is angle dependant?
By rotating a green bounce dichroic mirror, you can control the power
    balance pretty easily.

The other thing to look at is use some of leftover beam with lumia and
    other effects as well.

Yea a dichro or a 66/33 beam splitter should do the trick.

With rotating the dichro your going to get some impressive walk off on the reflected side, so calculate for it.

Yea! i remember reading about a setup where a laserist took the bounced beam from the PCAOM input to do some bitchin lumia effects.

I did some of my own a while ago: Check it

    Hi, thanx for the reply

"angle dependant mirror" that sounds great.
I got some mirrors\lenses and stuff from DVD burners that maybe can be used for something.... (until I find some real mirror to buy)

And yea it will be cool to use the green laser to any other effects as well
But since I’m only have 1 year of experience with laser (green DPSS) I don’t know so much about effects!!
"Fans and tunnels" is almost the only effects I’m familiar with
I did a search on Google and find this :

That seems like a great effect !!
But how do I make it ?

Maybe I will get 4-5 mirror that open and close diffrent effects!
If I only manage to find 4-5 diffrent effects haha

Well thanx for the advice !

Oh yeah, btw... the way you arranged that trichro isn't correct FYI...

Output of the beam comes from the widest side...

Lumia is basically a slow spinning glass wheel with patterns...
It can be simple or complex...

    I'll post more pics later.

    Here's the pictures I promised...

I took a quick movie that demonstrates lumia...
    http://scc.sc.wfinet.com/howdy/MVI_1988.AVI

The lumia wheel that generated the show above... Made by our pal Danno!
He makes the best lumia... he even crafts his own optics from scratch.
(He's the one with the Gecko in the video)

Here's his ultraslick milling job on the actual mounts...

The trick of lumia is to get the wheel spinning as slowly as possible. This
requires a "real" PWM driver for the motors... Simple gear motors aren't
enough to slow it down to the correct speed.... The ones above use both
significant stepdown gears as well as a semi-custom PWM circuit...

I never got a change to take pics of his "art" mounts, but he has some
pieces which go on an optical table that's simply breathtaking...

i love that damn lumia something fierce...

Ask Danno if I can take it out on a date.

All joking aside. Phenomenal work there.

    Wow..Very Kewl

About how many RPM's would you say thats turning at Yadda?

    Another neat trick---

    Find a rotating Fibre-optic lamp
I prefer the small ones with lots of fibres
have the beam shine thru mid-way at the center
I call it "The Crab" but you may think otherwise.

This is all my crap-cam can do..hope it comes out ok

You may not want to use a High-Powered laser here
If you do, I suggest aiming for the stem, That also
    produces a nice effect !!!

Another neat trick is to use a piece from one of those drop-ceiling light fixture diffusers. They have little bumps in the texture....
You know the one's that are square and measure about 16" x 24"..
Not sure about the measurements. cant measure now as my tape measure walked away again
Just cut it up to the size you need mount it ..and, ...PRESTO
(I used 2 layers in mine)
    Looks very cool too!!!
