I found out how they did it long ago.
This is hatsune miku 39's thanks giving day.
I have the blu-ray
It's vocaloid.
I really love the music and am an obsessed fan of it *yes *
Yes, i'll concede it's cool. I just wish they wouldn't use the word 'Hologram' to describe it
Quote: "There is a theory which states that if ever, for any reason, anyone discovers what exactly the Universe is for and why it is here it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another that states that this has already happened.”... Douglas Adams 1952 - 2001
how do they do it
Well first I want to say the girl with the green long ponytails is hatsune miku.
She is really the character that sings.
She's a voice of the program called vocaloid.
It sings.
my room is filled with 1/6 scale models, posters and plushies.
also 1 manga of her.
And my pc is filled with her songs.
They cover every genre, and some song remakes *also english ones*
she has over a thousand of songs and counting.
Some are on itunes
under the album name Re:Package
She also has her own game(s)
Project Diva 1
Project Diva 2
both are a great success in sales
Miku as a product creates millions maybe even billions.
There has been made an animatronic of her.
and she performed in america now.
She's been on the english news *well news website* as the newest and upcoming leader in the pop genre.

I have an Highly detailed hatsune miku model on my pc in 3ds max.
But it's so unstable that movement is really crappy.
The model itself does look really good.
Also vocaloid has it's own free for download animation program called
MikuMikuDance, *in short MMD*
how'd they do it?
well it's back projection.
2 projectors *for stronger lumen*
project and horizontal reversed video on the back.
The glass is made of tiny lenses to keep the light trapped.
The background of the characters is black.
The motion is motion capture.
The engine they running is the street figher engine.

I myself used some slighly blurry glass because I didn't have the glass with the lenses laying in my house at that moment.
Also Im sharing one animation *.max file*
here on photonlexicon.
With the song kanpai love
*not sung with her voice*.
Miku is my favourite character and I got Gigs of data and software from her.
also some very interested augumented reality of her.
Already have that for a few years.
she dances on the table or acts
A few models:
This one is not made by me, it's made by KIO and works in blender.
You can animate this one.
But I don't like blender to animate.
And yes sorry for the middle finger, she doesn't mean it personal :P I made this one earlier so posted this on on the quick.
Based of the kio model.. Getting it in 3ds max was a pain to start with,
Almost everything was broken... also some geometry, all textures were broken.
This one is hard to animate.. it's high poly and complex.
It's not fully made by me but it's highly modified *more than it looks like*
Sorry for the huge amount of content I posted
being enthousiastic when people show interest in vocaloid related things.
