My X2 only cost $399 from Cummins. There are several different companies selling the X2. They all have their own paint jobs and different names but they are all basically the same. Tooling will cost you, though. I lucked out because I came across a large set of R8 tooling, bits, and other accessories for free. That's what is nice about the R8 tooling. It's common and you get it cheaper than the other stuff. But, if you compare the X2s with the machines that use the other style of tooling (M?) you lose about an inch of height. I gained that back by switching to air springs instead of the torsion bar. The X2 is a but like a laser projector... you can keep modifying and improving it. A lot of people make a hobby out of just improving their mini-mills. The cool thing is, once you buy the mill and a lathe you can pretty much make whatever you need, including the tools.
