No, but they are frequently used in venues that have other lighting present.
Truly scotopic vision would only occur in a completely darkened room. Meoptic vision, on the other hand, is what you'd have in just about any nightclub, with the dance floor lights, the moving fixtures, and a few house lights on but dimmed...

Nichia is releasing longer wavelengths in high power soon. It will probably be on the 2500$ per device model, not the flood the market with licensed clones model.

NDS4113 is interesting, to say the least.
I've been waiting 20 years to get my hands on a 460-480 nm diode with Tem00, I can wait a few more.

yeah i spoke with tonto in melbourne a few weeks ago.
they also have a 510nm working in about 50mw.
the 460nm will be out within 6 months he says.

aijii, I just deleted my original post because I noticed I'd missed read the range specs on that diode.
How controllable is the exact wavelength as 460-480 is quite a wide range going from deep blue to light sky blue?
Is there anyway of controlling which end of the wavelength the diode actually puts out as I'm guessing a lot of people will prefer 460 over 480.

Prepare for the Binning charge.
Drift with temperature is small, perhaps a tenth of a nanometer per deg C. According to the data sheet. Thus there will be binning.
This will freak out some folks, but the raw diodes have actual FDA accession numbers listed on the web site.
