Default New Hi-Res PICS of Eclipse Technologies LaserVision Advanced

I thought I would start a new thread with Hi Res Pics of the boards.
Here is the link to the original thread.

If any one is interested in these boards make an offer. I will be putting them on e-bay soon.

From that top photo you posted, here's my "Wild Ass Guess" as to the specs...

It uses an Analog Devices dual channel ,voltage out 12-bit DAC for X&Y
It uses a single channel 8 bit DAC (DAC0800LCN) for the blanking...

The photos of the scanner block look like it originally belonged to a CT6800HP
scanhead, so the amp itself is probably very nice. However, I note a distinct
lack of opamps on the DAC side (I only see one quad package) which would
imply that the amp is single-ended (vs differential).

Full 3 axis scanamp, but with 2 axis scanhead block

Now one thing is that the scanner assembly mount is not configured for
3rd axis blanking as it seems to be missing a mount for the 3rd scanner and
the retroreflector... My guess is that particular unit did not in fact have blanking,
but the scanamp is fully populated which means it would be trivial to upgrade.

3 axis galvo mount with blanking the way you normally run it

The top photo wasn't clear, so I drew a better illustration of the "optical lever".
Please note I was lazy, the blanking mirror on the far left is usually really wide.

Junktronix is selling a 3-axis block on ebay right now as well... Don't
    remember the ID...

I do have the retroreflector, but the third scanner mount was gone when I got it.

Here`s the deal. I do not have the time to mess with it. So if anyone wants a project to play with I will sell both boards for $125 plus shipping and will throw in the mother board and hard drive with the show software on it and the cd rom drive. Would also consider trades.

is this something I can use ?
I guess it`s not plug`n play :? so it`s maybe nothing useful for me!

I`m impressed on what yadda can tell from just looking at the Print boards

\OT, question.. why do the blanking need that doubled mirror on the top?
Why cant the beam just go from the laser--to blanking motor-- and then to galvo ?

Aw man! That's a good deal for the just amps alone! If I wasn't sitting
on a few sets, I'd snatch that up in a heartbeat... I wouldn't call it exactly
plug'n play, but if you have minor soldering skills, it's a steal on a
    3 axis scanamp.

The retroreflector is a trick used to get rid of "tails" on scanner blanking.
It's known as an "optical lever" as it amplifies the motion of the beam path.
I'm actually a fan of scanner blanking since it's one of the efficient and
somewhat amusingly, one of the fastest blanking methods available...
the problem is that it tends to be cost prohibitive and tuning is more involved.

    ah thanx for the info

It was in my mind that the tail was the reason

I got a idea, if I get my new galvo now.
Maybe I can use my m6008 galvo as a blanking galvo ?

well.. my laser kan do blanking so it`s maybe more easy to me just run it the normal way (btw, i dont have any amp to run a blanking anyway)

well thanx again for the help

    Yadda;

Took your advice and jumped on this offer from Astroguy. Heck, if I can ever figure out how to convert the files on that hard drive into ilda format, it would be worth it just for the 6000 frames!

Would really be great to get this sucker running again. Looks like I've got another project to keep me busy. (As if I didn't have enough already!)

I promise, if I can get the files into a common file format that we all can use, I'll post them here. (Assuming Spec is willing to host them, of course!)

Cool! If you get highres pics of the PCB, I can look at finding out the
actual pins you'll want to tie to...
