the trick is to get them as close together as possible, clipping enough of the beam to get rid of the small dead area but not enough to start loosing lots of power.

the dead area is only like 15mw so its no beam deal.
You should use a power meter when stacking them close to each other, because when you stack them too close you will start loosing power very fast.

You can also isolate the baseplate from your lasercase.

I am using Flexmod P3 - high side drivers, part of the reason I chose them.

    My diodes are in parallel!

Good idea re the LPM. I have one on the way, due any day now...

    Thanks guys!

i finished the build tonight, made a cable clamp and wired in the DB9 cable.

Using a molded serial cable, 9 wires.
    4 wires for ground
    3 wires for +6V
    1 wire for Interlock
    1 wire for modulation

Ordered an ILDA breakout board from Stanwax (Rob) today, now it is time to focus on the case and actual layout.

    Why not?

I have tinkered with 2 x LOC's before and killed both with static.

In the scheme of a $1500 projector build the lazorb cost is negligible.

It's not only the cost of the diode that comes into play, but also the reliability of the projector.

+1 for the strain relief, I like it
Too right. I am running my diodes in Parallel. What happens if 1 diode blows? The remaining 3 take the set current for 4. Domino effect. One blows, they all blow.

    Cheers.

personal choice i suppose, i dont use em in my build but then again i wire in parallel so if one goes its ok.

i dont get really any loc going.

all my new builds make swapping diodes out a 2 min job

For the price of a LOC, a lazorb makes changing them out a non-occurrence.

Just curious, do you use Lazorbs in your 445 builds?

It would be a very rare occurrence that a diode would go open circuit even if you popped one.
