    Default what !

first it would be nice if you introduced yourself properly first

    welcome to the forum aito

why would you want ML520G72 diodes ??
they are no good for laser show use unless you got a few thousand dollars to waist
on finding a suitable lens combo, andyf97 on the forum tried and failed
so i doubt you will do any better. that said they would make a nice red torch

    Welcome,

Trust me, save your money, I have access to those diodes and some really, really, good optics, and I know what they do. I can't go into details, as what I did is "work product". I did quite a bit better then Andy on the beam profile, but the losses are huge. Even if you do collimate them your losses will be greater then 50% because of the high angle. They are designed to feed a video projector's optical integrator, not to be collimated. Yes, I tried multiple means of correction, too.

Then introduce yourself and fill out a profile.

    First,
sorry for not introducing myself... I´m a geman lasertechnician and master in eventtechnololgy (I hope it is the right term), building RGB-Lasers up to a couple of Watts and always trying new technics.

At the moment I´m trying to work on these on the first look "bad" red ones.
Btw I got now two of them to do some trials...
Let´s see what Thorlabs and some nice cylindrics can do to the beam ;-)

ok then tomeeii PROVE IT ! thats what is what i say
we want proof show us the beam data if two of three of the best guys on the planet Can't do it

with out losing most of the power then you can't..

@ aito why not get the cash your going to spend on all this, put it in a pot
on the table and set fire to it if you wont listen , then its your loss
still better give the money to a charity

    @badger1666

    I don´t wanna burn money ;-)
On my table there are lots of different optics to do tests... So, no extra money to spend.
Just try and error brings new ideas and sometimes good results... Remember the first tests with 445... everybody was thinking of wasting time and money and now it gets a standart for many DIY-projectors...

Thx Tomeeii for the offer, but now I got two from around the corner...

Badger1666, I take it you too, wish to become one of the five or six charter members of the

"Honorable Order of Those Who No Longer Believe laser Data Sheets" ???

We think alike, I too, had the charity line in my post and edited it out.

Tomeeii, Can you post calibrated beam pictures, distances, and power meter numbers of your implementation please?

I and two highly skilled local colleagues would like to see your results.

Aito: Best Wishes and Viel Gluck!

Welcome to PL. It would be nice to have you and your friends to hang around at PL, as well as at Laserfreak.
We have much we can share.
