everything that mentions ttl or analogue modulation can be blanked. prefer analogue if you have an option

you can have a 50mw dpss green with 55 + shipping on fleabay

would either of these work or is one of these better because this one:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Stage-Show-20mW-...item1c15786f15
makes me wonder since they give a range of output powers that its meant to be run lower for best laser life while the other one:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/50MW-Green-Laser...item35a789e230
    just states 50mw

but the how you connect them to a computer has been frustrating me, all I want to do is be able to use the Spaghetti software but I dont want to spend a bunch of money on a DAC. Now on the Spaghetti website I saw this listed as compatible:
    http://www.circuitgizmos.com/product...1/cgu421.shtml
which seems like it would be a very cheap solution. Now what I dont entirely understand everything that is necessary to hook up the galvos to the computer could someone help me out and explain whats needed and if this usb would work? Im on a tight budget so id be very happy if it did
That gizmo is not a DAC. It is a USB-TTL interface. It's only useful for turning things on and off or positioning actuators and that sort of thing.

both will work, there are modulation inputs on both power supplies.

don't expect much in terms of modulation response or beam specs, but this is good to go for a start and you will not be sorry when you outgrow it and toss it out of the window

    can you consider this one??

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Green-Laser-100M...item4aa60e8462

it is double the money but it has analogue modulation and tec cooling, a "true" dpss module. i am not sure but maybe it is just a green diode in the two you found

when i was searching for something similar a couple of years ago, i bought this little guy and it does quite well http://cgi.ebay.com/Green-532nm-Lase...item1c14c7bf34

well the one you got is from the same seller so long as it gets the job done i dont need much power right now so ill be getting the 50 mW from them.

With christmas coming up ill getting the scanpro 20's, the audiolase sound card dac and the laser to get started with, and then ill start saving up for spaghetti and in the meanwhile ill find something free to play around with assuming I can get this thing put together

    good for you!!

and after all that, and spaghetti, maybe you can start saving for blue and red.

250mW of 660nm red would do nicely (that is one LOC diode that costs around 5usd + 15usd for a power supply, plus a housing and lens, that is another 10-15 usd). so you are sorted for red and it costs around 35usd

then a dichro and mount to combine red and green and you have your first RGY (that's around 50 and 80 usd for the dichro and mount)

or you can go for blue, but this will cost three times more (50-55 for the diode, 20-40 for the power supply, 10-30 for the lens and housing) depending on what you choose

than another dichro to combine r+g above with blue (that's another 50 - 80 usd) and you have a nice little RGB
