    Laser Warning New diode Mitsubishi : ML501P73 638nm 500mw

    Hello

We already know the diode Mitsubishi ML520G72 but there is a new one :ML501P73.

The divergence is quite lower, may be it would be better than the ML520G72 ???

Diode is capable of 1W pulsed 1/3 duty cycle... here is a blog with some pics

the question is how broad is the emmiter on this broad-emitter diode....

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, if it quacks like a duck, its a duck. Trust me, odds are it is still a video projector driver diode, designed for driving a optical integrator, not a collimator. I've had my hands on the 072, and while a NDA forbids me from sharing details, you are much better off with something else.

    Hi Steve,
What diode would you recommend for building a quad red at around 2 watts, that could achieve a decent beam (say, no worse than a 445 quad) and not break the bank? (Brighter, shorter wavelenght reds are preferred)

    Thanks!

i think ever single person in the laser world wants a cheap powerful decent beam red module, but guess what? this doesnt exist!

AFAIK if die size is same and divergence is lower, the final beam specs will be worse.

2 years ago, you would have made the same quote, replace "red" with "blue", and there was no doubt about that.

If I told you back then we would have 1W of blue for under $99 in 2 years, everybody would call me 'Allen' and laugh at me.
