    Default Vundabar! lol...

RAD plane!.... I once saw a show where a guy had a 'true-jet' F4-Phantom (...my personal fav as a lad.... ) and he had retrofitted it with 'real' bombs! They released on cue and 'blew up' when they hit...I forget the type of fuse he used, but the 'load' was just black powder, so it produced a nice little report and very visible puff of smoke...

My Dad used to build those and fire them off sand bars in the Mississippi. One blew up once and almost took his eye out; mixing propellents sounds fun...

Yeah, my Boys and I had lots and lots of fun scratch-building those things... we tried nearly every poster / mailing / wrapping-paper / towling-paper / toilet-paper-tube we could get our hands-on... Once, we made a 'jet-plane' - w/ wings vs fins, etc - with a heavy-walled 'saran-wrap' tube - the sucker-flew straight-down the road, ~1' off the pavement, prolly ~1/4 mile, got into a 'speed-wobble', nose-dove into the road and ka-boom! Lol...

Once even used 2x 8' light-weight plastic 'sleeves', like that go over fluorescent-tubes, in schools, hospitals, etc, (in-case they shatter, it self-contains the glass frags) with a custom-made 'coupling-ring' and make a 16'-er! With the fins and nosecone, it ended-up over 17' tall!.. Shot it with one 'E' engine and - it flew very, very well... once

But, we never took it-to the 'advanced hobbiest-level', where like, you know, yeah, the are peeps that actually do-mix their own fuels, even some with refillable LOX tanks (!) etc, we just stuck to Estes motors and black-powder 'payloads'... it was fun, though, trying to build 'homemade shells', w/ various chopped-up Class C fireworks / black-powder, etc - the best, IIRC were those with heavy potassium-based mixes / other 'colorants' and, then a boat-load of actual firecrackers... nice flash / report, slower-burning colored 'streamers' and cracklers...

...Oh, the long-lost carefree-frivolities of youth and 'hands-on science'...

    peas..

PS - sorry for the T-jack, megaton...
