    Default Dac da mac

anybody have USB sound card laser code for a modern mac laptop. I'm trading a XY-I head to a guy with a mac who needs a usb dac.

I know Laserboy is multiplatform, but that just gets him a frame dumper.
Anybody have something a little more show-worthy?

Send me one and I'll let you know if I can get it working with the OS X audio class drivers.

Otherwise, you can use VMware, Parallels or Boot Camp. Assuming it's a halfway recent Mac that is.

The CM sound chip on usb cards is supported on OS X 10.5 by Core Audio - so it just works. This is on a 15" G4 powerbook. I can write to any one of the 8 channels in java with the J-SYN audio library. The Mac MIDI-Audio control app only lets me set the master volume and switch between 44 and 48khz sample rates - can't set levels on individual channels. PM me and I'll give you the full run down on using a CM dac on OS X.

Yes but as these threads always go, that's not answering the question asked. Does the CM work on a Mac, yes - I know, I do it, and I'm adding my knowledge to the thread.

If they really wanted to run a pango FB3, they might as well pick up a little dell network notebook for $199 and not muck about with parallels. I hear you can run a lasergraph remote client in an XP window too, provided you drop the dough on a DSP. If the client wants to do something with a mac, intel or PPC based, the CM dac will work in OS X.

My app isn't show worthy yet but it's getting close. If they just want to load up 25 .ild files and have them play when a corresponding key on a midi keyboard is pressed then they are welcome to run it.

That is actually what the guy needs, like 25 hot keys. I'm trading him scanners and a dac for a arc lamp power supply, but his computers are all MAC. Hes also 1500 miles from me, so I cant just go test this on his Mac.

Heroic, next time I get some funding in, you'll have your USB box to test.

Except it sucks- it's not at all stable (the Pangolin USB drivers are not very reliable in this environment).

The CM drivers do seem to work in VMware Fusion, though.
