    Default rules

should there be a couple of rules too
like no joining the forum just to enter , there is a lot of lurking guests
that may join just to enter, maybe should be open to members of over 30 days but then again it is just a fund raiser for admin so what does it matter
    just thinking out loud

Great idea, Badger!!! I like the lotery idea so lets go on with that. If there are people that want to become member this is maybe a good way to help longtime lurkers to join this great forum. It gave and still gives me lots of information to work on my projects like developing my own lasermodules. If someone develops a product and you make for example 10 pieces why not donate one to help to the administrator and PL.

Is there anyone out here willing to organise the ticket sales or to get this thing going?

The idea of having ACTIVE members take part in this Raffle sounds
    right to me...
I have seen non contributing members (members that join just to
take advantage of a PL member Discount or PL offers) hold up their
hand only to profit from a bargain and then you never hear from
    them again....

I think this generous offer by edison should be for active members
only.. I apologize if this sounds harsh on Christmas...

    I hear you edison...
I'm donating 100% of the price of a LaserBee I to the PL Admin purchased
    by any member here.
The Special Xmas PL price of one LaserBee I with Thermopile and Data
Logging Software will be $139.99 plus $32.99 Insured and tracked
shipping to Canada or the USA.
This offer is good until Dec 31 2010 Midnight EST.
Contact me by PM if interested.

I don't normally gamble, but a lottery for a good cause is another thing.

    Count me in.

should easy sell a 100 tickets and admin gets $1k

    just my 2cents worth
Why limit to one each, that may limit funding to admin? Main thing is that admin gets properly funded, right?

There should be 2 types also. One for hobiests and one for members such as Pangolin who make thousands of dollars a year from lasers.I think thats only fair dont you?

If I may say, opening this up to everyone will generate twice the income.
no i mean just the fact you have joined the forum, and not a guest,

@ solarfire the one ticket thing is just to keep thing fair and each entry
has the same chance of winning

I don't think you should make a difference between that, by only increasing the price you can even prevent companies from actually subscribing, these experienced companies are important too. We should NOT make it less attractive for them here.

The only thing is whats needed here is more subscribers.

I also need to become a subscriber but I can't afford everything yet as I'm a student at the moment

I expect I will be able to though around next year and WILL subscribe to keep this site up and running
    same gos for spec
