HP desktop Motherboard URGENT help needed!

Hello I'm pieter

I have an HPE-140nl

Windows 7 64-bit
8GB ram
Nvidia GTX 260
Intel I7 860

I need more slots in this thing, and the motherboard is very small (doesn't have an pci slot)
It also has no pci-e slot free And even when detaching the capture card I will only have 1 free pci slot.

I went to a computer store today to buy a new case and a motherboard, but didn't do it.

I do NOT want to reinstall windows 7 64-bit.

I was told the replacement of the motherboard is possible but I need to know the chipset of the computer.
I remember hobbybob working at HP?
If anyone could please tell me the chipset of the motherboard I will be very happy

trying CPUZ now to see what my chipset is.

However even when knowing the chipset.
Is it possible to upgrade to a bigger motherboard?

I'd say yes if you keep the same chipset, but frankly, reinstalling it wouldn't be a mess

you can reinstall it on your old hard drive and I think windows seven has a profile export utility that you can run before reinstalling, then reinstall and reimport the profile

if you have the opportunity to get another motherboard and some nicer guts, get it, you won't regret it

I thought all the LGA1156 CPUs ran on the P55 chipset?

I forgot a friend of mine used to work for a living with motherboards.
I asked him and he did me a recommendation.

He said:

you know, the profile import is just documents and settings, no programs ^


als he told me the chipset doesn't matter
if BSOD's or problems happen he can repair it for me
*he code's drivers and such for fun*

also he recommended me the: Gigabyte GA-P55

If you change only the systemboard, everything should be okay.

If you change the cpu and systemboard, or systemboard and Harddrive, or more than that, it will deactivate your windows license.

Normally, if you only change the Systemboard, Windows will recover, maybe a short trip true boot in safe mode, but it should not be a problem.


In addition;
IF you change an HP original part for something else, it could be that your windows will be deactivated. I know HP has some strings in the bios that allow them to activate windows.

I only chang the motherboard.
