    Default Interesting? O-Like 1W Blue Laser Module ebay

    I saw this module on their website

    looks like our homebrew casio modules ;-)

    almost as cheap as putting it together yourself.

    seems like TTL to me ?
    I think we can built Analogue for that money...
    I didn't fail !
    I just found out 10,000 ways that didn't work.

    Well, now you are kind of pushing it.

    You can probably throw together an uncorrected module for the price of the diode plus a poor-man's driver, if you have a scrap heatsink left somewhere, since those O-like modules aren't really rocket science.

    But $189 for all of the (custom machined) bits to make up a beam-corrected, TEC cooled module with a Flexmod, I guess that would be very difficult if you can't manufacture them in large quantities.

    Note also that their stated output power is ~850mw. Get a good 445 and you can do 50% better...

    Almost same as o-like- discount available to forum members
    I yr warranty- ships fast from Houston- the AixiZ version has black potting plastic stuff goobered inside the driver. I have one but not done much with it yet, Did run it as it came for 10 min. HS worked OK.

    Ok, let's see (prices are a little rounded to include a part of the shipping)

    55 for the diode
    35 for a 405-g-s lens and housing
    40 for a flexmod
    35 for the anamorphic prisms
    10 for a piece of alu
    and another 30 for some custom milling at a shop near you
    10 for a tec and thermistor, pot and the IRF540 mosfet for the tec controller

    all this adds up to 215, that's more or less what o-like is asking for price+shipping

    my cost breakdown is under discussion of course and i admit that i am not costing the builder's time (this should not be costed to my opinion, hobbist time is not the "scarce resource" / limiting factor here) and i further admit that the finished module will not look too "professional"

    but i still think the point is valid


    I know it can be done, i've done it!






    and you can further reduce costs by not using the 405-g-2 and going for the o-like lens, or you could not use a flexmod and build a stanham analogue, so then you even have money left for a lasorb and a nice looking cover

    or you could just get one of those dead b&w tek 473 dpss, so you get a cover, baseplate, set of anamorphic prisms, a tec and a tec controller for 35-50 usd + shipping. if you add a diode, flexmod, diode mount and a lens you have a sexy looking working blue for less than 180usd

    it can be done i tell you!!!
