    I don't think thats a cube, it's just a thick dichro

Thanks everyone for the kudos. I try to take pride in my clients builds

    Dave:
    Looks nice man,
    no heatsink under the 642nm?
It is mounted to a pretty thick Alum. base plate. I ran this system full blast for 4 hours (no mod.) and full speed modulation for another 4 hours with no fans (disconnected) and the head barely got warm to the touch. With the fans on (push/pull) she was purring like a kitten. In either test, the power never drifted below 19mW over rated power.

    Bradfo:

Nice to see those since that's about what I'm looking at for mine. I'm sure I'm not looking forward to finding out how much that 1.5 Kvant costs!
lol. we'll work something out. Probably not as expensive as you would expect. this was actually a 1.2W. not a 1.5W. I think i put 1.5W but that was wrong. dont worry, <$3500!!

    Mario:

when you have a min can you explain he different choice of beam paths, case orientation, and scanner alignment in the 3 watt vs. my 1.5? i'm just wanting to learn.....
Its usually based on where the aperture is. On yours, the aperture is in the front (short side) so i needed a little bit of a different beam path with a bounce into the scanners. Also, it depends on if i use stages to align beam heights or if i use mirror bounces to align beam heights. And that is usually decided, quite honestly, the last minute and dependant on what mood im in. . I have also switched my dichros to the much smaller rectangulr ones with smaller mounts also. So dpepends on spacing and area available. I have been experimenting with different beam path/dichro combinations lately for ease of alignment in the field and this is one of the easiest to last minute realign.

    norty:

Out of interest, what percentage of the total component cost does the red make up?
what percent? i dont know approx 20-30%

    blowfly:

I had the same questions as Mario about the beam path. It looks like the blue bounces off a mirror into a blue/green PBS cube, then the combined blue and green bounce off a mirror into a red dichro. Do i have that right?
no, blue bounces off of a mirror then shoots into a dichro. Just a newer dichro i use. then the B/G mix bounces off of a mirror for beam height alignment into Red beam path. B/G mix is the reference beam into scanners. red aligns to B/G.

Cool setup to use mirrors for beam height adjustment. That's a lot easier than getting plates of the exact right thickness to the mount the beams on. For my next build I'll give that a shot.

    frank-

that laser was actually ordered before i was even a KVANT dealer. this build was from a while ago and the build was held up a few times. (client issues with money). Sorry man. didnt mean to tease ya.

i think yours hit yesterday to customs actually.

    gahead-

yeah, this is a OSLS CDRH certified case. not a trade secret. for commercial builds here in the U.S. they are pretty much a standard. Expensive, but in the scheme of things, worth it (IMHO).
