@BQ, have you ever considered collecting stamps as a hobby?
This space for rent.
Hahaha, I really did think of this.
I own a speadboat for my hobby Wakeboarding.
I own a racebike for my hobby motorcycling.
but my most expensive hobby is LASERS. really...
most hobbys you just spend allot of cash and you are done for the big part. but lasers is just a never ending money pit (if you want to do it right)
sounds good here is something to start with

You are unique! Just like everyone else...
Mum: What do you want for breakfast? Me: Lasers Ofcource!
The difference is stamps will only increase in price over time, so it a good investment.
Lasers is a very VERY bad investment, 2 years a ago a 500mW 445nm blue costs over 2000 euro, now only 200 euro.
10 years ago the cheapest galvo set was 500 euro, now 50 euro.
etc etc.
But lasers are more fun
If you need in anything really cheap, you may try to find it on aliexpress.com, big chinese onlain-trade site with paypal-like system of money protection. I dont by on it moving heads - i buy on it 1000 pcs ultrabright red leds for my diy project, it was really quality. For 40 dollars with EMS Also, site www.chinesedepartmentstore.com.cn. now, links:

Mccarrot is right about the Money pit. Its an extremely expencive hobby. If you want to keep it affordable start developing that someone else needs to finance your build.
I also like trading things for people that have skills that i don,t have. Then you can help eachother out with keeping your wallet closed.
