If you use a multimeter with datalogging or PC connecions you can even make nice graphs/
Exactly... Those OPHIR heads are already calibrated by OPHIR....
All you need is two standard 9Volt batteries and a DMM to make
an accurate calibrated 5 Watt LPM.

Or you can buy an already built LPM with data logging like this one
that uses the same head and comes with the Windows Data Logging
    Software ready to use...

all is nice and cosy with the ophir heads, but i've been talking to people and they say that these were trading for around 50usd some time ago. then, people got smart and upped the price tag to above 200usd. so this is merely due to supply and demand.

so, as much as i want it, i will not be forking out an excess of 200 usd of no-added-value

better stick to the cheap DIY one IMHO, unless someone is kind enough to start selling ophir heads cheaply

I got a good deal on two Deluxe LaserBee I-X with datalogging, these are the new 2.1 watt laserbees in a deluxe casing with datalogger module.
I will keep one myself, the other is up for sale.

There was an eBay seller that was giving the OPHIR 20C Heads away
for ~$55.00 a few months back. Someone based a new product on
those limited heads and the product died when the supply dried up.
How can someone base development time and energy on a product
that uses a limited supply of parts...

I contacted OPHIR for a 100pc pricing on those same calibrated
heads..... $299.00 US plus shipping each....

I've already got all the Laser Safety Goggles I need... if that is
    the item you linked to...
    The 2nd item is for:
Lumenis Laser Safety Glasses Nd Yag Holmium Co2 Krypton

There is another guy selling the YAG wavelength calibrated OPHIR
    heads... eBay item #110630667698
He states "It can easily and accurately display as little as 25 mw or
    up to 5 Watts".

The OPHIR Heads I inquired about were be calibrated in the Visible
    wavelengthrange.
Here is some data on the OPHIR heads on page 116...
