Default RGB and Blanking setup Question.. help a beginner :-)

As I`m totally new to laser, galvos, amps, photons, and watts, i need some guide... 8)

All I have learned about connecting galvos and lasers have I learnd myself by testing and failing... so i hope some of you maybe KNOW how stuff work ?

The question is about the Blanking on laser !
Lets say i have TTL (digital blanking, ON \ OFF)

And the ILDA connetors there is Red Green Blue output.
And there is Blanking output (also called intensity?)

So when I only have a green laser, i connect the laser to the blanking..
And the laser blank as normal !

But what happend when I want to connect a RED and blue laser ???
I can`t connect 3 lasers at the same blanking output

So what I wonder is, can i drop the blanking output.
And just connect the Green output to my green laser, then it will blank everytime it`s NOT green output ?
(and the same with red and blue)

Actually... i dont know why there is a blanking output when you have a RGB output for each laser ?

    Thanx for sharing
you guys is all I got for my help...

The ILDA connector has connectors for all the color channels.

I think your using pins 3 and 16 which is "global intensity" for your green right now.

Global is basically good for a shutter that activates at 5V. Strangely enough pin 13 is a shutter also.

    Here ya go:

    5 and 18 is red
    6 and 19 is green
    7 and 20 is blue

The software and to a lesser extent the hardware control whether these signals are TTL or analog.

Connect your green leads up to 6 and 19 and see how it goes.

    Default Yar!

Just to fill in some of the questions...

As you suspected, blanking (intensity) and "color channels" are normally
exclusive, since if you can modulate each color seperately, blanking can
be considered redundant, however a lot of laserists prefer scanner blanking
and will wire it up in addition to the color channels... If you do not have
a method of providing dedicated blanking, leaving it off is considered safe.

Please note that there are some ILDA files floating out there which only
provide correct "laser OFF" data in the status byte, rather than the color byte...

A legitimate reason for doing this is the case of using "prism scanners" to
modulate color (which is what a lot of laserists did long long ago) and scanner
blanking. (The prism scanners were painfully slow)

The most common reason is really just a misunderstanding of the ILDA file format. ops:

It is generally recommended to use the blanking channel when you only
have a single color laser (and not just to green for example) because there
is no standard way to copy the other color data/blanking to an arbitrary
channel, though tools like Pangolin's palette wizard and similar can help a
    little bit.

FYI on the shutter: This refers to the mechanical interlock which should be
spring loaded to physically block the beam path if power is disengaged
or when the laser isn't supposed to be running... Required by the CDRH and
several other governments. Often you'll tie the interlocks to directly engage
the shutter if they're triggered. Specifically, you aren't usually able to modulate
    them very fast.

    thanx for sharing

For the moment it`s all working perfect... maybe becouse i only have one GREEN dpss...

But I guess it will me more question to ask when the time come as i recive blue and red :P

For this moment i use GND and Blanking output to my green !

That way my laser will display red green and blue as green from software!

    Well Thanx for the info
