    Default My first knifeedge :)

I had some time to play with Dave's new lenses and mounts today - my first knifeedge

After drilling some holes in a piece of scrap aluminum I have this:

Power output is unknown, but it did manage to burn a hole in a curtain - (Note to self: Don't align at full power )

Now I just have to go through my burner-pickup collection to find a PBS for the last diode

    Fine adjusted.

400 mA each diode or together ? Do you use one or two drivers ?

400 mA for each diode - they are connected in series to a lab supply for now - this is just a test setup

Oh well... Couldn't find a suitable PBS, so decided to knifeedge the last diode.

    Now I have this:

Power output is unknown - it will burn anything not white - guess it's around 750mW

    Nice to see your work.
Be carefull while not using a real laser-currentdriver.
The red Long Open Canīs should be treatet very carefully. They dislike to much current (imho max 350 mA) and they are very sensible at the mechanic side. A little piece of dust will kill them bevor the first light is comming out

Short pics of my quad in work: 4 LOCīs a 290 mA each, one PBS, two dichros red.

    For PBS ask here,

    Bye

It's amazing what a few pieces of scrap metal can do

I put a real driver on them last night - all diodes connected in series, running at 380mA.

They are sensitive little things - but also dead cheap... Perfect for a beginner to play with

When I feel more confident with this stuff, I'll swap them out for 637nm diodes - turned out the 700-750 mW I have now is still not enough to match my "150mW" green...

    Nice build

I'll wait with the PBS for now, I can live with a 3x1.5mm beam... 2x1.5mm would be nicer though
