Diodes & Sled arrived today. Thank you! Who on earth am I kidding thinking I'm going to figure out how to harvest the 405 out of the sled. Maybe have to hang on to that until SELEM and let someone show me how! I can't afford 300Evils lovely harvester.

Have some courage! Jump in and give it a try.

You don't need a guide, or a video, or a walkthrough. Just grab a tiny screwdriver, exacto knife, and needle nosed pliers. With some logic and investigation you can harvest the diode from any sled. They're really never very different.

Sigh... Well, If you just can't afford the harvester.... First, bridge the diode leads with a blob of solder, not too hot now... Snip the ribbon cable going to the diode. Carefully pry the diode mount away from the rest of the sled, they are just glued on... From here, you have a diode press fit into a mount. Take one end of the mount and grab it with a heavy vice. Be very careful that you don't smash the diode leads or the can. Take a heavy pair of pliers and with a bit of force, carefully twist the mount until the diode either pops out or the mount cracks in half. Presto!

If all else fails, check out LPF. They have some good info on diode extraction along with pics.. If that fails... I do take payments on the diode harvester.

Oh well.... that's different! If you take payments then I guess I should get both a red AND a blue one. Let's see..... the monthly nut on $80 million is?

(You KNOW you're just looking for gas money for the Donzi!)

Woo Hoo.... sled disassembly complete. You're right... this isn't that hard. Proud poppa of a 600mW 405!

Sorry Adam... I'm gonna have to reserve that $80 million towards layzurs instead!
