This little thing has been out for about a year or more, and they talked Bill and Melinda out of some funding. They are also the people who wanted to get 30K galvo sets down to 25$ a set about six months back. When you work out the math for the number of lasers and galvos to protect a single village, its a disaster. Makes pesticide look cost effective.
I called out one of their volunteer technologists on the subject of practicality over at LPF, he never replied.
