Default I got hit by lightning-for real!

Hey the other night we had the first storm of the year and we got hit. It took out all my lasers except the ones with lasorbs. Thought I'd share that they actually work! Scanners survived as well. Funny thing is that it didn't even blow the fuse.

You should forward this info to Bill at Pangolin. I'm sure he'd like to hear about this and maybe use this experience for marketing purposes. Very sorry to hear that your other equipment was damaged though.

Unhappy Sorry to hear about that

Pretty awesome how the Lasorbs proved themselves

I am sorry your equipment got fried like that!
This brings up a good question about home insurance... would it cover something like this?

I tried that, exactly once. You'd be amazed at how hard it is to get a insurance company to cough up cash on electronics, unless you have a premium coverage policy.

Yep, most stuff like lasers is considered 'Pro' gear, so they would expect you to have some sort of business insurance to cover it.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Nice, they can add 'mild EMP' to the list of things they protect against.

Any electronics other than laser diodes get cooked? I had a lightning strike a few years ago where it entered my home ethernet network and cooked just about everything.. computers, HTPC, TV, etc.

    Default boom

it was a glazing strike that hit a tree in the yard. Took 2 computers a stereo, a microwave, one of my lights on my fishtank, and prob more over time. I am not even going to try and get insurance for the stuff.

Luckly, I had a spare for everything and had just ordered new diodes for the laser. In fact I'm back up and running. Unfortunately, now I have to save up so I can try an oct red again. aweeee poor me.

Forgot, my ultra laser green did survive.
