    Hi folks,

    We're all probably guilty of taking chances with lasers at one time or another, including me.

    It's one thing to own protective eyewear.... it's another thing to actually use it properly...

    I've learnt the hard way - first while aligning up our argon projector for the first time - had the goggles sitting atop of my head (a lot of use up there...), and copped a stray reflection from one of the galvo mirrors - tube was running at low current - but enough to leave me with a spot for a few weeks....

    Second time was aligning the 600mw arctos with our argon... that was running at full power.... again a spot for a few weeks...

    I still see the spots quickly here and there, especially if i move my eyes quickly around...

    I have a pair of Spectronica safety goggles that allow you to align things properly yet still protect your eyes. I've had several occasions to quickly avert stray beams. I hate getting hit by a spotlight at a concert once you have dark adjusted pupils let alone a laser beam.
