Did the original projector have a yellow laser or was it just R/G mixed?

    Default Original Projector

    Hi
It was RG mixed with a slow set of scanners. The scanners are not going to waste though I will be putting them in my beam table build.

The whole idea here was to try and get a graphics projector into a very small foot print and it worked pretty well.

I will still be upgrading the Green and Red lasers soon but for now it seems to work pretty well I have got some pretty nice white out of it.

My only compliant is the beams are all different sizes so there is some color around the beam but when you are scanning its not that noticable.

I suspect that the Green is putting out some IR it looks like a pretty cheap build so that will be the first to go.

Is the red using 9mm thread? If so, drop a glass lens in, you may be surprised just how crap the stock lens is. That beam looks pretty chubby!

Thanks I will give that a try. I have not measured the output but as it stands its most likely 150mw of red at the moment new lens may help with that as well.

ya thats pretty common in solid state projectors

Yup I am from the old school gas ION stuff so this is new for me so far its a lot nicer to deal with though I only have to worry about popping one with ESD instead of dealing water flow and high voltage.

I am ok with ESD and different size beams as a trade off.

and you can always telescope the red to get it to a smaller diamater beam

Slightly worrying to see the fans blowing straight towards the optics.
By the way I take it you added those adjustors yourself !

Pity you didn't include a "before" pic, as well.

What make /model/price/etc. was the beast originally ?

    Cheers

pretty sure the telescopes are just for multi-diode setups, to squeeze the beams closer together... does not actually make the individual beams smaller... could be wrong though
