Default Willing to share your laser projector component 3D Models with the community?

    Hi PL,

I am planning a couple of builds and was thinking of modelling a few ideas in 3D before committing to build.

I'm thinking some of you have already modelled DPSS modules, galvos, galvo blocks, mounts etc etc. So rather than reinvent the wheel, I wondered if you'd be willing to share your models for the community to use. Even if the models need some modification to suit a particular unit, they'd be a great starting point

    What do you think?

    Cheers,
    Tony

    You mean something like this?

Quick and dirty model of a Flexmount I did in Google Sketchup. It's not completely detailed yet, but the most important thing is that the sizes are accurate so you can use the models to layout your build.

I'll be posting some stuff to the 3D Warehouse shortly. Most people who build their own mechanics will already have some Solidworks models of their own equipment, which may be worth converting into Sketchup or other 'free' modeling formats.

    Yeah, exactly!

Never knew about the 3D Warehouse. Just had a quick look since you mentioned it and found RGbee's models.

So I guess there's already stuff out there, which is great I'll certainly add any models I build to this thread.

    Hi Tony,
    Great idea!

I have created models for heaps of components. They are in SolidWorks 2010 format but I can export them in another format if you like.

    I've got;
    dt40 pro mount
    Dt40 pro scanners
    Dt40 pro scanner drivers
    Stanwax ILDA interface boards
    Stanwax/DZ colour correction boards
Edmonds 2" and 3" square cdar windows
    5.6mm diodes
CNI 12mm diameter 100mW OEM green laser
    LaserWave 2watt green
    Kvant 3.2 642
General scanning GM20 actuator and shutter flag
    McCarrot lenses
Dsub connectors 9pin 25 pin male and female
    Simon's prisms

For anyone thinking of integrating their QM2000 and .net card into their projector.
I have created pretty detailed models of them as well as its cooling fan, power supply and related components.

I've models of EyeMagic EMS 4000 infinity scanners and driver boards.
Also for the IRIS ColorSafe board and sensor.

Hit me up and I'll send over whatever you need.

    Kit

    Awesome! Thanks Kit

Can you export to .dae (COLLADA)? I believe this is a widely accepted and interchangeable format for these models.

I could personally do with the following, though I'm sure there'd be others here who might like to have access to these and the others:

    dt40 pro mount
    Dt40 scanners
    Dt40 scanner drivers
    Stanwax ILDA interface boards
    Stanwax/DZ colour correction boards
    Dave's diode mounts
Both types of Dave's optics mounts
Edmonds 2" and 3" square cdar windows
    5.6mm diodes
CNI 12mm diameter 100mW OEM green laser
    LaserWave 2watt green
Dsub connectors 9pin 25 pin male and female
    Simon's prisms

Perhaps somewhere on the FTP server would be a good place. What do you think?

    Cheers,
    Tony

    ah google sketchup.
it's ok and a + that it's free =) but I never liked the renderer itself and stick with 3ds max.

Great to have your input on this thread, being the resident 3d guru

Can you import/work with .dae files in 3ds max? Do you have any laser projector components modelled that you could share with us?

I did do some laser modules, they are not on scale and the galvo's were a bit plain.
import .dae files in 3ds max is a yes.
in fact .dae is collada autodesk format.
and 3ds max is in ownership of autodesk.

however one reference picture should be enough for me to complete model laser hardware. (that's visible on that picture)
    I did this many times
