Default Special request to attendees (et al) of SELEM V

I am encouraged in our quest to have Dr Sam at SELEM. Buffo just talked with Sam for nearly an hour and has sent him some of Adams DVDs, which Sam said he was excited to be getting. His call came at the perfect time as Sam had just been thinking about some Green HeNes that Buffo had sent him a long time ago.

Sam also wrote that he would be happy to do a Q&A during the event.

Even if you cannot attend please add some kind words in the threads on that on the laser forums.

I got an email from Sam last night and he answered a question I had sent him. If anyone can bring/make(or send) a show set to anything like 'classical music' that would be great as it is Sam's genre.

If we could have something on the screen about thanking Sam for all he has done over the years for the laser community and for being our guest at SELEM V that would be a very nice touch. iirc Sam mentioned Bach and some others. I will copypasta his email here later.

Sam is also willing to bring any (small plz) items from his FS Classifieds for those wanting to purchase and be able to say 'I got this from Sam Goldwasser---in person!!)'-- Sam has quite a list at FAQ and also a list of items he is looking for----so doing a trade is def. a possibility. Just email him at the addy provided at SAMS-- if you cannot find it PM me.

Alex (MM) has offered to help with getting Sam to SELEM V-- but having several 'back ups' is a must.

At first I was thinking Sam may not want to be there for the entire event but now it appears he does not want to miss any of SELEM V , so that is good news as I was hoping the trips would coinside with the plans of Alex and or any another willing to help us out with that.

I am helping Buffo in coordinating Sam's transportation so plz PM me if you can be added to the list of possible back-ups. Sam lives just outside of Philly. I will fwd that to Buffo.

By Sunday morning Sam may have had enough Photon Phun(but IDK) while Alex may prefer to stay longer so anyone leaving early on Sunday and have room for Sam please speak up, ASAP. I have offered Sam a bed in my suite and I am OK paying for that but if anyone feels like helping just drop a few dollars in the tip jar at the Buffet Table on Friday--Thanks...>(*U*)<... Len

hakzaw, is Sam planning on driving to SELEM or is he looking for a ride? How about a flight? I'd chip in a few bucks to make sure he makes it down to SELEM. Looking on Travelocity, a round trip flight from Phily to Charlotte would be around $200. If 10 folks chip in $20 he's covered. I'll even volunteer to pick him up at the Charlotte airport.

I gather from what Sam has said that he does not like to do much driving.
Due to the much higher cost we did not even consider flying Sam in.

I have not asked Sam about his feelings on flying and I am not sure how he would get to and from the Phily airport. But , of course, Sam would arrive less tired if he did fly.

So ATM Brado69 and son will pick Sam up and delivery him to the HIE. AS this will be Wed, nite we could still use a volunteer to give Sam a bed in thier rom/suite just for that on nite . Alex(MM) will be taking Sam back to Philly on his way Sunday morning for his a ride home. -( I would feel more comfortable if we had more 'back-up' drivers who are coming and will be near Phily on thier route--better too many than too few).

I hope to collect enough $$ from the tip jar at the Friday spaghetti/meatball dinner, to give the drivers some gas $$. Same with lodging and , if he wants to go, Sam's meal at Zambra's. All that will surely get worked out as needed. For now Sam seems very agreeable to coming as long as he can avoid the smokers(n/p) and just like Steve and Jon and all of us---- Sam is adamant on laser safety and wants to know that no-one will be drinking heavily and driving any lasers. Beer goggles do not work for any wavelength AFAIK---lol

Sams fav music is classical so if anyone has or can do a show to some --that would be a nice idea.

I had thought that we would not be sure of Sam coming this soon-- so I take that as a very good sign.

This was accomplished by hard work on the part of many-- thanks especially to Buffo--his phone calls to Sam really helped as well as the dvds made by 300evil Adam. I plan a video interview W/Dr Sam and any questions sent(PM) to me will be asked... the results will be avilable for all to see.

I can probably scare up some classical content. Any other requests?

overdrive that classical show. ....and ...one last request.

Quite a bit of effort has gone into convincing LaserSam to be our guest and as of now the attendance is looking a little lower than we had hoped. AND therefore the funds will be tight..

.ALSO in light of the fact that Adam/we must pay for an additional nite

AND if anyone would like to help a little with the added expenses that we will have in Sams behalf- any help in that area will be greatly appreciated- we would like for Sam to be able to go to Zambra's and also to have a little gas money for the guys giving Sam rides to and from the event and also his lodging--- so see Adam or put a little into the TipJar at the Friday Buffet (or both)and it will get put to good use..

I have posted a recent photo of LaserSam in post #25 here..

go take a good look so you will know him when you see him...TY for reading this post---Len

Since suddenly, the confirmed number of attendees is growing... wanted to give this a bump for discussion.

The next move is going to be into the $1,500-$2,000 range and I just can't afford to do that sight unseen.

Would there be any way to use a different one in the theater each day that we can arrange ahead of time? I know someone brings the DF-50. But, if someone has a Look Solutions Unique 2.1 for example and volunteered to use it on day 2 and then, maybe the LeMaitre Radience on day 3 if someone owns one of them. Just a thought...

Everyone says, "I own (insert brand here) and it works great." Well.... lets check 'em out!

I dunno man... we tend to set it up so it works. Playing with foggers like this could make for a few disappointing shows and I am all about the show time. Sir buffo ain't fun to watch when things get disappointing either.
