there ya go .... good bye .... i have become very distant recently .... mostly because i have been working in foriegn countries and also because of the lack of safety i have seen ( not with the majority of the posters here on the PL forum i would like to add ) but more with the "Wicked Sith", shit thats been happening .... (has anyone noticed how close the words sith and shit are alike ? )

I Love Lasers ... i have even admitted im a laserholic .... and i will always will be ....

but today .... this post with someone asking about why the galvos on their 5W laser are not performing how they should ...

kicks me up the ass ..... who whould run a 5W laser in their lounge ( on ishow software) without knowing how galvos work ...... sorry guys .... i have always loved the fun and banter here .... and would always help ... but 5 WATTS of LASER and someone who does not have a clue .... time to get out .... this is not personal to the poster of that thread ... but just the way in general that lasers seem to be going

I will carry on being a member of ILDA this year and thanks to all that have been a part of my life here over the last many years.. i will make a thankyou thread when i have calmed down a bit .... but i dont want to be a part of the Big Accident

can't we just assume that it was a typo and the guy meant ".5" instead of "5" and call it a day??? ?? ?


ps1. if this is indeed your last post, i'd like to thank you for your build pics and for proving that 45 angle of incidence is not always the best "angle of incidence" for dichros. really helped me. i do hope you stick around

ps2. why everyone who wants to be a monk goes up on a mountain or in a cave and prays for eveyrones' souls? try sticking around with "sinners" is what i say, you have better chances of saving them, if you know what i mean.

hate to break it to you but theres even more idiots in the world that own guns too... even over there (albeit they are mostly rich idiots)

the best thing you can do (IMHO) is try and help guide people in a safe direction

I also agree with your frustration. I really do. Upon getting into the DPSS stage, I started with a 25mW green and a modded sound card. I am now at 1W RGB and running QM intro. 1W is more than enough power for the stuff I do in my living room and garage. I agree that this is equivalent to getting your drivers license, and buying a formula 1 to run to the grocery store. 5W on iShow... That is a D color diamond set in plastic. I don't understand it.

I say this; if a fart smells bad, move away from it, don't leave party. It would be grand if you stuck around. Your dry, sarcastic humor would be much missed.

You can hardly be a part of something you had no part in creating Karl. That's like saying your quitting driving because you don't want to be associated with the one idiot who does 190mph down the motorway.

By all means take a few breaths and calm down, but just realise that even if there was the world's biggest laser accident in which 30,000 people were reduced to ashes by a secret government surplus xxx laser run bought and run by an incompetent operator, that would in no way reflect on you.

Sit back and enjoy your hobby and chill. You're not responsible for others actions.

Karl. yours is not the first incident of throwing in the towel I've heard this weekend. It all centers around cheap Chinese lasers growing in power and with reduced prices. I woke up early on Saturday when a friend phoned with the sudden issue of three 5 watt instant competitors in his one horse town. Please take a while to reflect and then send me a PM, and please discuss this with me via PM. I guess a supposed 5 watt showed up in his place for 1400$


You are one of the people I truly respect around here, and in the business.

Man, I hate to see a senior member go - especially at a time when knowledge is key to this forum.

If the trusted members with respected opinons leave because of an idiot or companies that build dangerous lasers - who is left?

I found this forum and learned tons (I hope). Without it I would be another of the idiots that know just enough to be dangerous.

I hope you stick around and be part of the solution and not hide from the problems. If someone deserves an ass chewing I say give it to them.

That is exactly what I thought... I couldn't imagine someone getting a 5 WATT laser as their first. I'd hesitate to get a 5 watter myself after the 5 years I have been in the "hobby"...

Karl, if you give up the obsession that is your choice; may I have the Beast? I hope you change your mind but if you don't, you'd better still hang out and post the shitte you normally post. It may not be often but it ia always enjoyed.
