OK, V1 diode in hand and the test rig coming together. DTR, I need a pin-out for these. Which is the anode and which the cathode?

Here you go. See this. It does not have a case pin but you can get orientated via the notches in the diodes base.

I think the anode is the one marked "Positive +"

You just might be right. But have you seen the bottom of these diodes? They are extracted.

reply that looks like a nice red. might beat out the 170mw diodes. Wonder if it will pump 250mw single mode. That would solve my red issue with an 8 banger.

I laugh evertime I think about a 250mw anything in my hand running off a battery! Remember when a 100mw whitelight needed 10amps.

I actually have a sample of that diode on the way for testing. They are pretty expensive though. The new 180mW Mitsubishi diodes may still be a better choice being more than half the cost but I will post up my findings when I get them.

What did the beam look like out of the new blue diode? Can you compare it to any of the other blues?

I literally just tested one right now. They only do 20mW more then the 170mW HL63133DG and the Mitsu 180mW diode.

They MAX out at 290mW. Not worth the extra money as they are indeed pretty more expensive.

They also Laze at 645nm @ 290mW.
