I quit smoking cigs 4 years ago. I used a drug from Pfizer called Chantix. I took it for a 2 weeks, and on the 15th day, I stopped the meds and cigs. Mission accomplished.

Wifey and I sat down and figured out what else we could do with that $180/month (4 years ago...)

We bought a new 2008 SeaRay 185 Sport. So I drive my habit around the bay, pulling kids on tubes, fishing, or 'enjoying' said wife in the middle of the bay on a nice sunny day.

When I get stressed, and I smell a cig, it is almost as good as smoking one. otherwise, it just smells nasty.

Good luck all ye quitters! Live longer and funner-er... -er

The funny thing is, whenever I'm in a place where it just isn't practical to smoke (airline travel, family gatherings, church, whatever) I have no cravings at all- it is as if the whole thing doesn't exist, but as soon as it becomes convenient, I'm ready to light up...

I tried that one. Some people here know me in real life. I'm fairly laid back, no worries/problems kind of guy. Maybe even laid back to a fault.....

    Having said that:

Chantix made me violent. Very much so; so much that I was scaring myself (not to mention my family). The first week was alot of fun. I really enjoyed the crazy dreams at night, it was like an adventure movie every night when my head hit the pillow. I looked forward to going to sleep to see what the night brought. The second week, the weird dreams continued but during the day i wasn't caring about anything. A few more days I was having a hard time controlling the anger. I'm not an angry person at all but that drug could/would have gotten someone hurt had me and the family not realized what was happening.

I got rid of the rest of the pills out of fear.

That shit scared me, and i'm not a drama kind of guy.

    beware.

    Please.

I have a friend that would recommend this for smokers of other "herbal" products.. http://www.vapir.com/product_detail/...porizers/1/199

I've also heard horror stories about Chantix as well.. It seems like the side affects of that can be far worse than cigs.

Thumbs up Hard task, but worth it.

    Gidday chaps,

I smoked for 17 years and have tried to stop at least 8 times.

I stopped (again) two months ago, this time using nicotine patches and a inhalator.

I know there are all sorts of opinions on if you should use NRT or go cold turkey, but NRT works best for me.

So far so good, have not touched ciggies since I stopped, have had a dream I smoked .. which sucked.. but thankfully it was a dream.

    Things that help me:

    1) I don't like the phrase "giving up" - basically because your not giving up anything "good" - I know I've enjoyed it in the past.. but it was never "good" for me.

    2) No such thing as "just one ciggi" - smoking "just one" may seem appealing, but it leads to "just another one"

    3) Smoking cigars is smoking! (I kidded myself into thinking smoking Cigars was ok, ended up inhaling.. 20 little cigars a day.. nice)

    4) It's good for you!

    5) You don't have to abandon your wife and kids in the airport when you need to have a cig (Obviously the downside of stopping.. )

    6) Smelling smoke / watching others smoke will make you feel like you're missing out.. you're not.. think of how hard you've worked to stop.

    7) Cash.. you've saved a lot - Think of all the laser related stuff you can buy. (in my case it's fine single malts and lasers)

I dunno, I can go through with lots of points.. it's fuckin hard to stop and a battle for a long time after you've stopped..

Recently I've considered the e-cigs but I've come this far so I feel like it'd be a step backwards.

All I can say is, to those who still smoke.. I know where you're coming from.. I know how hard it is when people pressure you to stop - you gotta do it for yourself.

    (End do gooder speech)

    All the best.

All good points Nige, thanks for the words of encouragement.

I have decided to reward myself once I am 3 months smoke free, by buying Pangolin QS with the money I saved. That should be enough of a reward to focus on through the tough times.

After more than a year smoke free the nico devil got me again!

It started with one fag in India, then I noticed how cheap they are there $2 for 20. Bought a pack, then another. Now I am home I am racing through 40 a day @ $20 a pack and I am hooked. Nico stained fingers already.

    Its a bastard.

PS. Its a worry how many laser threads are listed when search for "smoking".

I have been cig free for four months. Thank god for E-cigs. I did a lot of reading over @ ecig forum and then went for what I thought was the best options at the time. I had to make a very clear decision that I was going to do it and not give up. I got my stuff and immediately threw out all the cigs I had to make sure I would not cheat. Literally after the first day I was not freaking out at all. It was a very smooth changeover to vapor. The day I got my first mod was the last day I smoked. Now I am a little crazy with it. I find it much more enjoyable than smoking ever was and there are so many great flavors out there to explore. I can breath and smell like never before. No more constant wheezing or tight chest. It truly is amazing.

As far as equipment and juices i have a some Ego Twists, a Provari, a Zmax and a SVD. The SVD iClear 30 tanks are awesome.

    My personal favorite flavors are:

    Cina-bun by High Caliber
Moca Java Smooth by Heathers Heavanly Vapes
Bluberry Muffin by Heathers Heavinly Vapes
Peanut Butter Cookies by Heathers Heavinly Vapes
    Gingerbread by Alt-Cig
    Strawberry by High Caliber
    Blue-Rasberry by High Caliber
Cin City by Heaters Heavenly Vapes
Legend for tobacco flavor by Heathers Heavenly Vapes.

This is an old thread to get resurrected.

Your question didn't get answered so far as I can see, so yep, ecigs usually contain nicotine.

Must admit you have funny ecigs in the US. Most I've seen on sale in the UK in pharmacy's actually look like regular cigarettes, like these:

Hmm. E-cigs. I have to check them out.

I am addicted to Gudang Garams presently. I love the clove taste.
