Hey Marc -

Looks like you broke the code on the rotary encoders!

Luckily, vertical faders on most MIDI controllers I've seen are USUALLY easier to deal with, since they USUALLY "zero out" at the bottom - USUALLY!!

From what I've seen so far - at least for laser controller uses - it seems like it's freqently easier to just map keys from within our laser apps than it is to try to use some sort of template provided by the controller.

I don't have the software in front of me right now, but I believe that with both QuickShow and LivePRO, you can go into the MIDI settings, and specify the key # to use as the start key for the cue assignments.
With that option, you wouldn't necessarily need to change the key # reference on the controller itself - just change where the Pangolin software starts using the keys.

I'm definitely a MIDI "tinkerer" -
I've got a couple of rather "different" MIDI-control setups I'm incorporating with one of the laser shows I'm currently working on.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to this year's SELEM, so the unveiling may have to wait a while!

MIDI can be a bit overwhelming at first, because there is a LOT more controller messages to deal with than DMX, but can be a lot of fun to work with once you get the basics down.
This might help a bit:

Have fun!!

P.S.

I've got several MIDI apps & utilities that might come in handy, for both PC and iPhone.

I can send you links if you're interested...
