    Default Quickshow 2 cue puzzle

In the default QS2 workspace, on the Sheets tab, cue 21 consists of a series of white lines that are rotated and positioned accordingly. Each of the lines is a simple abstract with no associated FX. And yet when you play the cue, the lines fade in and out one after each other and have different colours. How on earth do they fade and acquire their colour?

I think the answer most likely is they've been created in something external like 3D Max then converted to QS format.

Remember a lot of Derek's content is externally created in Live Pro or 3D max (live pro you can tell from the dialogue which informs you it can't be edited). 3D max etc I'm not sure there's any way of telling other than through the missing effects which are clearly applied but not showing.

Livepro doesn't have an editor by default, so its unlikely he did frame creation in LP.

Can you not just use a colour fx to change the colour?

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Not sure. It might mess up the fading. I'll have a go though...

...Nope. Whatever is doing the magic happens after the FX pipeline.

You can cue them on the timeline using Event Effects however, you'll have to play around with the timings to hit everything just right.

Simplest to use fades but sharp changes can be achieved but it needs twice as many keys.

BTW Colour shouldn't affect the fade as it will be a brightness effect.

Just checked it out and anything but default will not fade. It's just on with no fade in or out at whatever color or color FX you choose.

    Interesting....

OK you can also apply a fade using the Event Effects and keys via brightness.

This may not help here though, as Event Effects are global (affect everything in a key) I'm guessing that what you're seeing at the moment therefore since applying keyed colour is all of the fans on all of the time in one colour.

    Is that correct?

Also what are you trying to achieve, something for a special show?

I have work arounds but they're not something I want to go into publicly at this moment in time so if I can help you achieve what you want another way, and know what you want it for, then I'll help you that way.

Actually I'm going to try something so I'll get back to you... its a possible workaround but not one of the ways I want to keep private atm.

EDIT: OK that didn't work, some dark forces at work here. Let me know what you want to do with the cue and I'll see if I'm able to help you the other way which does work for definite (I know as I've already re-created this cue using the 1st method).

It's used in a show for a band. The lighting designers liked the effect, but asked if the colours could be changed. I naively said "no problem"
