    Default Occiliscopes

I had an ooold Tektronix scope die last month and need to source a good digital storage scope for < $1,000. Two channels at most, easy to use, with a good screen. I am working with: 1, Sampled flash lamps ie. 1 usec./ single shot to a few 10's of Hz.
    2, Diode drivers
    3, Modulated SS lasers
    4, AOM's
    5, Q switches for YAGs
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

In the < $1k range you can't go wrong with the Rigol DS1000E series.
Its a great scope for the money. If you have a bit more to spend then the new Agilent InfiniiVision X series

AOM's could be a bit challenging since they work in the multi-MHz range, but for most of what you need the Rigol DS1000 series could work fine. Logic analyzer is an option on those scopes and they're generally pretty good.

If you're on a budget, you could even look at the Owon PDS5022 series. China makes some decent LCD scopes for under $1000.

Get a used Tek. :P I've *never* used a digital scope with a user interface I liked as much as my friend's ancient Tek 7000 series mainframe.

wouldn't you need a spectrum analyzer for an AOM?

SRA-1 mixer from minicircuits and a 80 Mhz "clock in a Can" and you can easily look at AOMs with even a sound card.

These are all good suggestions and to the point. The low cost work around for the AOM is the way to go. I have yet to work with an AOM (don't have one yet), but want to have the equipment to do so. Just have to decide if the nicer Agilent $1,200 wins out over the $750 Rigol.

    Hi Planters.

Dave Jones from EEVblog did a review of the Agilent scope. If I had the extra cash that is what I want to get. I have a Owon 6062 and an old analog tek.
