    Default LD2000 memory question

What kind of memory is used for the LD2000?
I found the info using the link below but what else is there to know?

You'll probably need to contact Pangolin directly for specific memory recommendations.

Also, there's more to the upgrade than just plugging in the memory module -
there's also a jumper (solder trace) that needs to be modified for the system to recognize the additional memory.

Pangolin can help you out with that one, too!

If you're near Franceso, he might be able to assist -
if I'm not mistaken, his shop is an authorized Pangolin dealer & service center.

why do you want to add memory?

    Are you running out?

Both my controllers have 512mb i believe, and i never ran out of memory..
It will not work faster with more memory.

The "standard" configuration is 256 MB.

While that is probably plenty for most individual shows and live use, you can still fill it up if you start pre-loading a bunch of shows using AutoPlay...

    ALSO -

This tip from FirstLight Laser might come in handy for some folks:

It is "doable" - but probably at the risk of voiding the warranty!

    Yes you are correct

It is already explained on the link above on the Pangolin website; The type of memory that the QM2000 uses "Single-sided DIMM's"
The QM2000 will support up to 512mb and some memory modules will need a jumper setting on the board to work at full capacity.

We at Pangolin recommend to purchase memory from Pangolin, or from a store where you can return the DIMM if it is not working.
If you want to use non-Pangolin memory read the note about warranty on the Pangolin website, http://www.pangolin.com/LD2000/qm2000memory.htm

Let me know if you need to upgrade the memory on your QM2000 board to 512mb. I have some in stock here or can point you in the right direction

or you could just wait for beyond or QS2 qm edition... both of those will use the QM as a frame buffer so whatever memory you have won't matter

I would think that the need for the memory expansion on the QM2000 would still be valid for some pro applications, based on the stand alone operation provided.

    Maybe this need is changing?

Beyond is using the QM strictly as a frame buffer... the memory will be irrelevant... this is something I spoke to bill about a while ago since I work on 40 minute shows its easy to run out of memory
