I have a DL-55 that I found at a garage sale. I don't think there is any way to make that thing legal other then putting 4.95mw lasers in it. Massive scan angles into people, with no way to control it. DMX on the unit sucks, and can not be replicated to do the same thing.

But there may be a way.....

Also, how would you go about setting up a delay on a DIY blue? Mine seems to come on very quickly compared to the Laserwave red and "no sure named" green I have in my DIY Series rig.
Could build a delay circuit and place it before the laser power supply.

may not be the best example, but something close would work.

Just a suggestion rick that it *is* ok to offer help or advice on here every so often without asking for money or soliciting a sale.

    Default Up for the challenge

I am always up for a challenge and I need a summer project.
Sounds like the DL-55 is not worth my time to be modified to fit to code, but the others can.

I'd like to thank you for your advise and great information. Also thanks to all of those willing to build this for me, but I'm a do it yourself kind of guy. It may not be as good or as high of a quality as you could do, but at least it gives me experience and gives me a better knowledge of my interests.

Key switch (non removeable on position): Going to upgrade the current Key switches
case intertlock(s): Will have to modify
emission indicator(s): Would a Safety board be adequate for this?
remote "kill" switch: Already have one installed
Beam attenuation: Would a Safety board be adequate for this?
beam shutter (not required, but VERY good to have): Will look into this, probably going to leave it out.
PROPER labeling. (not just a danger sticker here or there). 90% of the proper labelling is already done.
manual reset: Does an ON/OFF rocker switch count? If not, I'll add one
power on delay: The unit already delays 5 seconds when powered up.

    1) how long ago did you purchase these projectors? if it wasnt long ago, i would return them. the process and what you are going to need to do to get these certified and varianced are going to be VERY long and daunting process.

    2) requirements for class 4 projectors (which all of yours are).

Key switch (non removeable on position)
    case intertlock(s)
    emission indicator(s)
    remote "kill" switch
    Beam attenuation
beam shutter (not required, but VERY good to have)
PROPER labeling. (not just a danger sticker here or there).
    manual reset
    power on delay

    3) once the above is accomplished, you then need to do your PRODUCT REPORT

    4) Variance Application

    5) Laser Light Show Report

Then you will get your approval and be on your way.

Or, like i suggested, i would return these to china and DEMAND your money back.

Here is a thread about my DIY series projector that shows everything I added to get mine compliant. I might be missing a thing or two and am waiting on the CDRH to review my product report and advise.

Here is my request for assistance on my manual reset button:

if you use security screws you don't need case interlocks
