Hey Troy, I thought this got answered but while going back through the thread I see it wasn't.

If you have a QM2000 and want to upgrade to BEYOND it is half price until November; since you have a QM2000 the upgrade is software only as BEYOND will work on your existing hardware.

Is the licensing done by the small image file as for LP?
I think this is still up in the air but will try to get clarification once Bill gets into the office. The way I took it is that there is a BEYOND Special Launch edition that everyone is getting now and once the levels are more defined as Essentials, Advanced, Ultimate, and the update comes out in November the software features will change to reflect the level that was purchased.

Yes, licensing is done the same was as LD, LP, and QS with a bitmap license file.

IF it is decided that anyone who purchased BEYOND before the November update will be able to keep the Ultimate features, it would be fairly easy to just mark those serial numbers as Ultimate level. AGAIN, I will try to clarify this will Bill as soon as I can.

I hadn't been following this thread till yesterday. I am massively confused. i really don't want to read over from the beginning. Maybe someone can help clarify a few things?

If I buy Beyond upgrade for my LD2000 basic can I....

    (1) Also use that copy of Beyond on my laptop (no LD2000 installed) to control my FB3-XE? Or do I have to buy an upgrade for the QS also?

    (2) If Beyond is installed on my PC with my LD2000 and QM2000 can it also control my FB3 at the same time for multiple projectors?

If I were to buy the Beyond package that is not an upgrade does it come with a QM board or a FB3?

    TIA

    (1) I am not 100% sure but I think you can run BEYOND on your laptop once it has been run with a QM or FB3; I think you can also do this with QS. If you upgrade your QM it will work with the FB3.

    (2) Yes, I have already tested this at home with a QM2000 and an FB3 running multiple projection zones.

    (3) You specify what controller you want when you buy a new BEYOND package; you can get a QM2000 or a FB3.

I added some comments but have since realized I missed a page of forum posts in the interim so, I removed it.

I asked Bill this question exactly, asking if when the versions started diverging if we would get the version we paid for, the way he explained it to me is if you upgrade now you get the full version forever...

I told him this contradicts what a lot of people (and it seems like pangolin's site has said)

I cant quote him exactly but he said something like "its like a virus, when you get the full version its like a vaccine you keep that version regardless of updates" or something like that can't 100% remember... but I made very sure what he was telling me was $750, I get ultimate forever regardless of updates...

unless he was messing with me lol

I'm writing now a letter to Santa Claus: could you send me a Beyond trial version?
