Yep, we have copied so many things from nature using our 'technology'
This article contains a little more information
http://www.popsci.com/science/articl...t-living-laser
I can't find the article I read last week, but that also said something about the cell being able to generate more GFT after GFT gets destroyed by having the laser on.
Gear:
660nm 220mW leadlight
660nm 230mW lab
660nm 250mW lab (COD)
532nm 40mW from DX
405nm 140mW pocket
405nm 130mW pocket
405nm 120mW lab
405nm 15mW presentation pointer
Magenta 25mW
IR 135mW
Here is the article I've just found... It's STUNNING!
"Not only did the cell-based device produce pulses of laser light as in the GFP solution experiment, the researchers also found that the spherical shape of the cell itself acted as a lens, refocusing the light and inducing emission of laser light at lower energy levels than required for the solution-based device. The cells used in the device survived the lasing process and were able to continue producing hundreds of pulses of laser light."
They use a Genetically-modified jellyfish protein!
