Default Power technology PPM module dead

    Yep, I killed a brand new http://www.powertechnology.com/ppm.asp?model=PPM

Anyone familiar with this circuit? I accidently shorted across the R18 resistor while adusting the power output and now I get nothing at all. The TEC fan runs but the laser "off" light doesn't come on and there's no laser light coming out.

I'd like to find out if I killed the controller or if the diode blew up.

Ive been trying to ebay one of those for about 6 months now. If you know of another one thats available I'll be glad to Reverse engineer the circuit.

Would probably give me the content needed to start the Wiki also.

Do you mean buy, or sell?

I don't know any others that are available.

    Sorry. I meant buy.

There was a rash of them up at one point. Never could get one for under $100, even the non working ones.

I wonder... Would you mind sending your dead one here for repair? Id love to tear it apart if its completely out of warranty.

what is the value of R18? high or low? if this is a low resistor i think R18 is a current sense shunt resistor and if short circuited the maximum of current flow thru the laser diode.
i think in this case about bad laser diode.
you can test the system with a fake laser diode (2A silicium diode in serie) to make a good Vf like the laser diode.
