Default Something wrong with my scanner size!

Gday guys, I'm hoping you can help me.

I bought a 1W RGB laser and the Phoenix Live software suite. I've done a lot of searching already and found nothing on this.

For some reason, when I control the laser through ILDA with Phoenix, even on the test patterns, I'm losing 75% of my X axis scanning.

Here's a picture to show you what I mean.

That's SUPPOSED to be a regular circle.

When the laser is on auto mode, the scan angle is 100% and fantastic, but I can't seem to figure this out! It might be the DB25 cable I'm using, but I don't have another one to try it with, and it would be beyond strange that it's losing exactly 75% of it's voltage perfectly all the time.

Any light you guys can shed on it would help.

How do you know it's loosing exactly 75%?

Check the ILDA wiring and measure the signals with a scope if you have one. One of the two differential lines might be open.

The scan params/size in Phoenix are ok?

I brought the Y axis down til it made a nice circle, the scan angle sat at 25%.

Phoenix is showing all 3d rendering at 100%, it's just not outputting that.

I don't have a scope at my disposal at the moment, but there might be one at work. I'm going to try and source another cable, but that won't be easy.

I was worried about that at first as well, but as I said, when not taking direction from the ILDA interface, then the scan angle is fine.

I'll be taking it to work probably tomorrow to try a few things, including the DMX functions and have a look for another cable.

Have you checked the Geometric Correction settings in Pheonix for the projection zone you're using?

I'd definately err on the side of a software / DAC / Cable / ILDA Plug (or lasers ILDA socket) fault given that in auto mode when non of these are in use the projections normal.

This sounds completely like you're missing either +X or -X. Inside the projector, I'm going to guess, that the X/Y wires from the ILDA input go to the DMX card first, then from there to the scanner amps. Assuming that they are not hard soldered to the DMX board, can you disconnect the X/Y wires from the ILDA connector and swap them at the DMX board? This would nearly eliminate a problem within the projector if the problem follows the cable swap. If you have a meter, you could test continuity on your ILDA cable, particularly pins 1, 2, 14 and 15.

If all that checks out, set your meter to measure DC voltage, connect the black wire to pin 25 of your DAC (assuming it has a standard DB-25 ILDA out). Set the software to output a full size square and measure pins 1, 2, 14 and 15, they should all read roughly the same in the neighborhood of 2-2.5V. If any of them is 0V, then your DAC has an issue, could still be a setting in the software, maybe try to reload the software as a final test.

If it is running fine in DMX mode then surely itīs not a hardware problem with your scanners. Could be:
    DAC Problem
Software configuration (try another soft or resetting all prefs)
Cable problem (ILDA cable/connection from ILDA to DMX BOARD)

    Cheers
