Mixed Gas to SELEM:

Hey PL'ers-

Whether Steve (mixedgas) like it or not, he *WILL* be attending this years SELEM. He is probably one of the most important and influential, educational members here and he needs to be at SELEM. His time, efforts, expertise and priceless experience in our field is second to none.

We all need to try to band together and help him get there. Adam (buffo) and I spoke and have agreed that donations to help Steve out would be greatly appreciated. Any donation would be great. $1 or $100 or anything in between.

CT. Lasers will pay any remaining balance that is needed that donations fall short of to get Steve to SELEM. All money donated will be transparent and anyone at anytime can ask me and/or Adam to see records of money donated. I want this to be a *good* thing and not a topic for us to bicker about. If we raise MORE money than what is needed, we can decide as a community (of those who donated) what to do with any remaining money raised.

I think we ALL feel that SELEM is too much of an educational and important event for someone like Steve to not be able to make it over something as silly as lack of funds.

511 miles. IF I left the plant on Friday night at 5 PM, and drove till 10 PM, that would put me 300 miles out from Akron. I'd have a four hour drive in the morning, boots on the ground just Saturday and drive back all day Sunday. I'm game, but its not realistic. I'd need to fly.

For about $200 Steve could fly out of Akron at 6pm Friday arriving in Charlotte just after 10pm. Then return flight around 6:30pm Sunday, landing in Akron about 11pm.

How about it, Steve? If we can make this happen are you game?

I have a practiced 15 minute powerpoint on troubleshooting Lexel control cards for this year, with hardware demos.


The plant is in Middleburg Heights, its closer to CLE, aka Cleveland Hopkins International but remember a half a hour to get to the airport, twenty minutes in the parking deck, 5 for the shuttle, up two hours for TSA and required early arrival?

Assumes they schedule me 9 to 5 and my first week is actually training in town .... Don't know yet. Don't have that info.

Middleburg Heights to Akron Canton is 48 miles, 5 of which is a 1 lane K-rail construction zone right now

Akron Canton is fast, maybe 20 minutes to check in and 10 for security.

edit - There are later flights (7:50pm), but the price more than doubles and you wouldn't be in Charlotte until Saturday morning.

DZ has got the best idea, ie: Delta has got a RT from CAK thru ATL, getting in at ~11:07am on Fri, and same itin. you found for Sun (~6:30pm) for ~$223.
