    Heh Chuck,

I don't know If it's just another urban legend but I heard talk about the LAPD looking at a scaled down version to deliver charges to disable the electronics in moving vehicles without the colateral damage that a directed EMP would generate.
It also could be used to ionize the atmosphere and discharge dangerous buildup in the clouds to prevent fires at oil refineries, or lightning strikes diabling hydro corridors, reduce forest fires, etc...

I could have picked up a TI Saphire laser at a govt auction last year but it was still too big compared to the table top ones they have now.

Still it'd be cool to play with.
