    Default OpNext 637nm diodes

Has anyone here actually built a module with OpNext's HL6388MG or HL63133DG diodes? Talk about them shows up every once in a while here (just do a search...) but I've seen very little in the way of actual achieved diameter/divergence results with various lenses. I even looked over on that "other" forum, and as expected found that some people had stuck them into pointers, and as expected there were no measurements there either...

    Anyone?

Yes, I have, No, I can't talk about it. NDA.

That's interesting, Karl. Would you mind sharing which Meridith Instruments module you are using?

    Thumbs up

Great! Thanks for that! I'm sure everyone here appreciates your sharing that info. So, with that lil' inexpensive module and the
    HL63133DG found here
    http://avnetexpress.avnet.com/store/...arch&x=19&y=11
we should all be able to build a nice 200mW of bright red with a good beam for a little over 200 bucks. Super! Yo the main!
    -edit-
    or the 6388 here: http://avnetexpress.avnet.com/store/...storeId=500201

Stick with the 170mW(HL63133DG) one if you want a good beam profile. The 250mW(HL6388MG-A) is a multimode diode. I have both and would not get another HL6388MG-A.

Thanks DTR! Good info. I did notice that the 9 x 17 degree divergence on the 63133 looks a tad bit better than the 10 x 40 on that multimode 6388 .
Finally a single mode 635-640nm diode with a decent beam .. Cant wait to slap a few of these together! *sees money flying out of wallet at C* -(speed of light)
    Cheerz!

Edit reason - typed wrong diode number
Well I probably shouldn't have, but I got 2 of the 6388s . I couldn't resist the higher power. In the edit reason field did you mean that you corrected the diode number to HL6388MG? I got 2 of the Mi lenses you mentioned and also 2 different ones from Thorlabs with NAs of .63 and .68 to try to match up that high 11x40 divergence. I read on another thread here that the stripe width is not bad at 20 microns. The blue 445s are 14, I think ..
