Going to start trying and shooting some all sky images for under the dome. I couldn't resist a 180 degree shot under the dome at well.Click image for larger version.

You know that if you get me started I might shut down the server with all my posts.

Anyway, feeling sorry for myself and thinking myself rather stupid for doing this, I was rewarded with this...Click image for larger version.

Here we have a like-new Spitz 1024 planetarium projector with console and lots of extra's recently removed from a college in Baltimore. MD coming off the truck last week in Phoenix, AZ. The equipment sat in a defunct planetarium, totally in the dark, for a very long time. There were a number of spiders in there who were quite surprised to see me show up with my tool bag. The console booted right up and the star machine emerged from the pit jet black in all its glory, with stars shining on the dome. I time transported for awhile before any cables were pulled. A custom 10 foot high gantry had to be built from local lumber in order to safely extract the machine and lift the 650-pound console up about 4 feet from the floor in order tp pull cables without cutting. When finished the extraction, I had quite a collection of small cuts and bruises and must have looked as if I had met an alley cat out back. This all fit neatly in a 26 foot box truck, vindicating myself for all those who mocked me for the massive size of this box truck when I showed up. These things cannot be stacked and must ride home in its own footprint. There were numerous extras that came in the aux rack and from above the dome, consisting of spfx projectors, JBL studio monitors, and a rack full of audio gear. Much of the Spitz equipment was crated or placed on custom built dollies which were built onsite and I refused to be hurried through that process. One extreme challenge was navigating the narrow side streets of Baltimore in this giant truck only a bit north of Washington, DC.

Fantastic!... and well done. Even though I live in the UK and probably have zero chance of ever coming into contact with these things, I absolutely love reading of your exploits and what you're doing to save these magnificent beasts.

Keep up the great work, I for one find it fascinating so please keep posting!

    Cheers

I'm a laser/optic freak, lurked for here for years, Im also on LPF (laser pointer forums) with the same user name, low post count though.

I registered to say if you need any help in the DC/MD/VA area just let me know. I could always free up a few days for something like this! Not looking for anything in return, just the experience. FYI, I'm a Master Electrician with 25+yrs experience in commercial/industrial/mission critical enviroments, so I do have tools/skills which may speed up your mission.

BTW, you're nuts with these balls to the walls, all in a weekend fly/pack a van/drive marathons! I dont know how you perform at your day job come Monday, or stay married??!! Lol!
