    Default QM2000.net crashes

I have just installed and connected QM2000.net via LAN cable on my XP pc. The board is identified but every time I try to run Showtime I get an error saying "ST2000 must now exit because the network connection that supports the master QM2000 has disconnected".
    How do I fix this?

Is it a brand new QM?, is this the first time you've had problems if it's an older QM?

Try a different LAN cable. I thought I had a problem, but a quick swap to another cable solved it. Also, try wiggling the LAN cable in the back of the QM and also at the PC end. Are the connection lights lit up on the LAN and the QM? Other than that it's possible some process on the PC may be causing the interruption, do a ctrl, alt, del and look at what processes are running.

Not an entirely scientific answer, but it may help as it's exactly what I do with mine if it drops out.

Please fill in your location so that someone nearby can offer help.

    Cheers

    Thanks, I'll try your suggestions.
It's not a new board, it was used on a previous computer at work and was working fine. When I transferred it to this computer, same LAN cable and all, this happened. The LAN lights are lit up and on the actual QMbox, the green link light is on consistently but slightly flashing and the orange light is flashing.

If it was working on another PC and the only variable that has changed it would point to an issue on the PC side of things.

is it possible that it has to do with the IP? although the board is identified. what could be the problem with the pc?

If you've previously had it connected on the new PC it's unlikely to be an IP problem, plus if it's showing as identified/connected (text is black if connected vs red if there's a problem) in the opening screen it's definately not an IP issue.

Have you tried dropping Pangolin an email directly? They're extremely good at resolving these sort of issues.

    Cheers

Make sure the IP subnet is the same for both machines, and the actual IP addresses (last 3 digits ONLY) are different.

If you're connected to a router or wireless adapter, disconnect / disable those, then try again.

Also, while the QM.net network port is (should be) autosensing, the network adapter on the PC may not be.
It's a bit of a stretch, but you may need a crossover cable if you're connecting directly from the QM to the PC.

AND, make sure you're running EXACTLY the same version of LD2000 on both machines, with all the same installation files, updates, etc.

    Good last name, BTW...

Did you install the QM2000 drivers? You can get the latest versions here:

i thought qm.net to laptop needed crossover cable, not straight through network cable

I believe it's auto-sensing and should work with either. I've always used it with a standard patch cable.
