My first question I have is if there is a step by step guide for building one? and my second question is where can I find a professional and well built case for my laser. Also what else would I need besides (3) diodes (3) mirrors (1) dichroic filter set and (1) scanner. I know that's probably only about half the stuff I need, so any help would be much appreciated. I'm just trying to figure out how much all of this is going to cost me.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

You can find a real cheapy projectors on E-bay "RGV & RGB Laser projectors" search. 1.2 watts output for under $1000.00 and if you start out on a 500mw rgv projector a class 3b (recomended) If your this new to laser and laser projectors, you damn shure don't want to start out building one! start buy knowing your local laws on laser _RRA, place your states first letter in blank and googgle it! As well as federale laws on lasers, FDA/CDHR, google it! and ounce you understand what this agencies need from you and your projector,Then it's a good time to build one, and aprox two years later for your projector, X-time for you to become an LSO, rquired in my state, New York, Texas, and some others including the U.S. Gov, then you can opperate your laser projector in public and earrn a living, No, not yet! Now you can spend the next two years getting a show Varienced by the FDA/CDHR and your local state _RRA. If your still bent on producing your owen projector as your fist one then apply for your FDA/CDHR projetor Varience and show Varience at the same time at both US, and local Goverments.
In my state you have to have the FEDREAL FDA/CDHR variences first before you even apply to the state for thair permission to do a laser show!

Would one from ebay be reliable at all? I was reading the stories about laserworld and that was why I thought I should go with a more reputable company. I don't want to throw $1000 down the drain. But you guys do know way more about this than I do

Hello All. I have designed a commercial quality case with all of the bells and whistles. When the first article gets back from the Powder-Coaters, hopefully tomorrow, I will post pictures of before and after assembly. It has all of the components most people would want. Swivel base, Computer style power inlet, fuse holder, power switch, DB-25 (ILDA), Dual Fans with filters, 6mm Aluminum Optical Plate, 3mm Aluminum Electronics plate and a 50mm square output window that is AR coated. It has PEM inserts pressed in place so everything goes together with machine screws. My current RGB projector has been living on a plate of aluminum for some time... LOL It will be migrating into the new enclosure soon so this will be a good time for grabbing lots of pictures. The idea is if enough people here show interest in these cases, then I will fork out the cash to have a production run done. They will have to be manufactured in quantity though in order to get the price down. This would be my opportunity to give back to this forum. All preliminary at this point but just wanted to give a heads up. If enough serious people are interested and I do this, I will NOT be collecting any money up front. I will front the money and when they are finished and packaged I will let everyone know.

    Stay Tuned...

    Rob

The new Kvant Elite 1.6W is much cheaper but uses a plastic case and 650nm red. Compromises but cheaper. From memory in the Uk these were around Euro 2,500 but that was possibly an introductory price.

You should be able to find a Kvant 2.1W Spectrum for around Euro 5,000. A 1.6 W spectrum (metal case and 640 or 637nm red) for less with LM scanners for both units. LM scanners are around 25K but very good scanners nevertheless and perfectly good for beamshows.

You can always upgrade to Cambridge later when budget allows.

Alternatively I'm sure CT lasers can hook you up with some parts if you want to self build.

BTW, Green lasers aren't diode yet but DPSS unless you're talking very low powers ie 50mw or less.

    good price!
I purchased the same unit with ct-hp at 4.667€ at Synchrovision, England

I didn't know that Kvant sold their laser projectors to private

this behavior is not serious by the Kvant.

Anyone can be a Kvant reseller.
