Default Can a Flexmod P3 be used to drive a TEC?

    All,

Just about finished with my Dual 445 Build. See below...

    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...Dual-445-Build

I'm down to figuring the best way to drive the TEC.
Has anyone used a Flexmod to drive a peltier?
I am using one Flexmod to drive the two diodes in Series and I have a second driver laying around so if it would work for this purpose that will be a good way to put it to use... If so, would one simply modulate the second Flexmod with the same control signal from the DAC? In other words the control signal would be attached in parallel to both Flexmods...

Another option would be to keep the two separate and use a thermocouple attached to the diode housing to provide temperature feedback to an op-amp circuit which tickles the input of the second Flexmod...

Ideas, experience would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Hey Rob,

I think youmay be trying to go way above and beyond with the TEC since you are using them on 445s. I would just figure out much voltage you can run to it with out getting condensation on anything and just run it off a small PSU.

    Aaron,

Yes I know but I would still rather have some kind of control over the TEC... I found a simple way to do it using a FET to drive the TEC and NTC as feedback component. Will probably give that a shot unless someone else chimes in regarding the Flexmod...

you can make a divider with a trimmer and a NTC to drive the input of the flexmod you'd use as a TEC regulator... it would be constant current drive so take a TEC made for 5V, like those 5V 21W on ebay, and you should be ok
