Now to be fair, they did send me a second set which look OK. Dave at LSP also helped me out, so I'm over it now and OK.

But let that be a warning to anyone thinking they can save $100 instead of buying DTs.

thats not good i hope mine arnt like that what problems did you have? did they simply not work or what?

yes you can increase the scan angle and reduce the speed.
    a set of 20k galvos does 20k at 20deg
Vs a 40k galvo tuned to 20k could do it around 40 to 50deg.
However some galvos have limits no matter the speed at what they will move.
Also not always is the concept linear across all galvos.
Has any one ever before they tuned there galvos recorded the pots resistance so if they screw up they can set them back.
i cant be the only one to think of that, right?
The thought of testing and tuned every unit before they ship out again to everyone is scary.

One of the driver boards failed, so the image only worked in one axis.

The 2nd set had a damaged driver, a scratched mirror and a broken galvo... There may have been other issues too. The packaging of the 2nd set was very poor and likely lead to it's demise. The whole lot was hand wrapped in some bubble wrap, no boxes or separation between the components and thrown in a plastic freight bag.

i told them this is an all of nothing order that every unit must be wrapped in a set by them selves and if one does not work they will all go back.
So i told them pack well and in make sure to give the best tuned set if you do well you will be best seller of galvos around with a great rep but if you fail you wont sell another unit here very easily.
He said each unit would be check by 2 tech before the shipment and they will be packaged and give me spare mirrors more than the 2 extra per unit.
So lets hope he sees the green and knows whats good.
    And DHL has good shipping.

You'll most likely be fine, or at least 90% of them will be.

They're not the best scanners on the planet, and I think the DTs have a better build quality. As there appear to be less issues with the DTs, that would be my preference.

Ask me in a few years which are still running well: my PTs, my DTs, my CTs, or my Eye Magics.

oh i bet. but for the price vs performance i think the 30ks will do most members fine.
Most of us just want rather simple graphics and a good scan angle.
i like my 20ks tuned to 30k but the scan angle is rather small.
so i would rather have a true set of 30ks.
