Default I admit it, I have a problem...

I tried... I tried so hard to break these chains of addiction and run as far as I can from lasers. Alas it seems that lasers have their hooks dug deep within my soul and has dragged me back, kicking and screaming. I could blame myself, but instead I blame djmatt and his arsenal of old school ION's! I also blame SpitzSTP! That guys has collected some awesome equipment from theater renovations. So I decided what the heck, I dug up an old lead on some equipment. A silly offer later and here I am, nearly completed with my ~16 hour journey. This stuff is out there guys, just sitting idle on shelves and will likely never be used again, unless we can rescue them. More details on my score after I finally make it home and have had some sleep. Here's a sneak peak though:

I feel for ya brother. Once the disease gets hold the grip is hard and fast. You are doomed brother, just like so many of us here.

We should start a LUA (Laser Users Anonymous) group.

Home, finally, damn that was a long trip. Indeed well worth it though. Ok, a couple more pics, I couldn't resist, even being half dead from exhaustion, I hooked up the laser. The guy had documentation showing that the laser was retubed in 2007. He claimed that it was only used a couple times after the retubing and then just put away. Well, how about 71.2 hours on the new tube! Unfortunately, it's been sitting on the shelf for a few years, so it is very high pressure. It took a good 20 minutes of letting it arc for about 30 seconds and letting sit for a minute cycles with the fan off before I got it to sustain. Even so, it's very red heavy at the moment, green is completely supressed. When I crank the current quickly I get green and watch it fade away. Going to have to let it cook for a couple days.

Yeah, the projector is an Excalibur with G-120's. It has a turbo track T2 amp and an 8 channel PCAOM. Oh, did I mention a QM2K Basic was in there as well, along with a Universal Geometric Corrector and a Pangolin TC2000 (SMPTE reader/writer). It's like I struck gold! Nows the time to look for deals like this, with theaters all over going thru renovations. A lot can be learned from SpitzSTP! I don't dare tell you guys what I paid for this....

I must say, I'm quite fond of the capital "DZ" on the cover!

Um.... This thing now has a yellow line.....

edit - Wasn't expecting the yellow at all but I keep looking for the green and saw the yellow fading in, I turned the current up a bit and took this pic showing red, yellow, green and blue. Not the greatest pic quality though...

Thanks Jon! I need to breakout the Displaser torture tube!

I can't say that I've ever seen this before, but I seem to be getting 2 yellow lines at full current. I'll need to look that up, I thought krypton only had 1 yellow line. Anyway, some more shots of the gear:
