I'm sure most of the laser geeks around here shrug their shoulders at this, but this is awesome! Still a basic stamp nerd at heart. Would love to see more basic with laser...

I have a basic stamp running in an old argon setup using 2 modified relays as galvos. Some may remember this strangeness that I showed up with at selem I lol.

My first "dabble" with laser scanning used a pair of cut down hard drive platters as mirrors, mounted to stepper motors controlled by 1/16 micro-stepping drivers all orchestrated by an Arduino microcontroller with all the cues programmed in C! It worked! And, it got me interested enough to go the next step and build a real scanning projector...

The way I pulled off the trick of speed was the use of 1/16th micro stepping AND I ran the steppers close to resonance, this gives them the ability to jump like mad. It's a bit like fighter jets, they can maneuver extremely quickly because the jet is essentially unstable.

All very Ghetto but great fun and I learnt a lot!!!
