Default 445 diodes and PBS help

why dont 445 diodes work with cubes?

im baffled by this one, even if the turn the cube the 445 beam still passes straight through the cube.

to get the cube to do its job i have to turn it like this

does everyone have this issue or am i missing something?

are you sure this strange behavior has nothing to do with the waveplate you added to the design? is it correctly oriented-rotated?

as a comment, it looks too strange to me that sir com overengineers this much. a pbs AND a wp in one of your modules? what are you up to sir con? next thing i know, you'll be making 640nm quads

ignore the waveplate as its not that laser, its the beam coming from the one at the top of the pic with no waveplate.

im really really baffled, normally when you turn a pbs to the next side it affects the beam, but in my setup it does nothing

    Just thinking out loud here...

I believe that a PBS cube relies on the actual laser beam being linearly polarised in order to work efficiently. The higher the polarisation ratio of the laser, the more efficient the cube. Do these 445 diodes have good linear polarisation?

Put the waveplate in front of the cube and slowly rotate it, that should give you a clue, as the beam should change from going straight through to coming out at 90 degrees.

I'd also try rotating the diode a bit just to make sure the polarity is good with the cube; maybe swap which diode the waveplate is waveplating.

looks like the polarization of the diode is about 45 degrees, how weird

I had a Laserwave 640 module like that; had to mount it like a lowrider doing the 3 wheel... Looked... pimp.

    445 diodes are very strange.

has anyone tried a 445 diode with a cube?

it seems I or - go straight through a cube, but the beam at / works.

how fucking annoying as you cant combine beams at this able /
